Tried to take some pictures of Kami’s belly, had issues since Brad was onyhome for 10 minutes and then Tally wanted to be held and not stand ont he grass in teh pictures she wasn’t in, didn’t get the shots I wanted but they aren’t picky and I”m still happy that at least they will have these pictures, I will post some on my blog after the baby is born.

Vivian Sue: Newborn Shoot Introducing beautiful baby Vivian. Her mommy Amy and Daddy Brian are so excited that their little luv-bug is finally here and so are we! After a week of sunny days here in Spokane today was a total 360° with lots of rain and ominous clouds. Even so, it was an amazing day! This morning...

Yay Catherine! It’s so great to see you on here. So when are you going to come out and shoot with me? Or better yet, be one of my models?
Hey Marie! : ) Thanks for blogging! Yes, I want to start sharing as much as I can, because it is a really steep learning curve for me and I hope I’ll be able to offer encouragement and get more critiques for improvement if I share my (rough) lighting technique. I use natural light mostly because I just don’t have a lot of experience with studio strobes and haven’t taken the plunge to buy a set yet. Instead I use a bunch of makeshift backgrounds I bought at a fabric store and tack them up to the wall in coordination with my available light. If I need to I use table lamps without the shades and my reflector to bounce enough light onto my subject. With babies it works fairly well, but I am not sure it would be the best idea with an adult unless you have a full floor-to-ceiling window. It can also be a little tricky–especially because every home, day, and set up is different… but I do the best I can. I’m actually pretty close to buying a small studio setup of Chimera softboxes but am waiting for our house to sell so I can realistically look at the setup of an in-home studio by 2011. Fun fun!
Or you could come shoot with me!! We could take pictures of Maya. Give me a call (541.778.9022) and let’s schedule a time for this spring! I was just thinking yesterday about how I would love to photography Maya sometime. She is SUCH a gorgeous little girl. =)
Wow! These are great. Thanks for sharing a little about your lighting too. I never would have realized you didn’t use strobes or a softbox. I’ve seen you use lighting on another post. Why don’t you use it with babies? Sorry, just curious!
These pictures are so beautiful Amber! She is such a doll!
I love that first shot, what a beautiful and expressive baby. Trying to learn from my notes i took when you were here is not as easy as I thought it would be, I relaly just need to practive and maybe take a class.

Model Mayhem: Valley of Fire (Pt. 1) Hello everyone! This is the first part of my latest Model Mayhem project. The WPPI conference in Las Vegas was a great excuse to take photos some place completely unlike Spokane. Embarrassingly enough, I actually skipped WPPI to focus on this project. Yeah yeah…. I’ll take all the *tsk *tsk’s you’ve got....
